These vessels are more flexible than Capes, particularly as they can transit the Panama Canal. In addition to carrying iron ore and coal, they also carry a considerable amount of grain, bauxite and fertilisers in bulk.

On FFA the most traded contract is the 4 TC Average for up to three years forward, and also the individual routes 2A and 3A for up to 6 months forward.
